Heron’s Flight is a family run vineyard and winery - specialising in Italian grape varieties Sangiovese and Dolcetto. Visit the wine Tasting Room and sample a ‘flight’ of wines, or enjoy deli food and wine by the glass.
04. Heron’s Flight Vineyard

The driveway takes you past the vineyard, toward the winery. That’s where you will find Heron’s Flight’s Tasting Room. Learn what goes into making the wine, and the experiences gained through 30-plus vintages of grape growing on this site. It’s an original and authentic Matakana Wine Experience. Enjoy our estate grown Italian wines and white wines from select providers. Build your own platter with a selections of meats, cheese, bread, crackers, and an assortment of accoutrements.

06. Honest Chocolat
Award-winning hand crafted fine chocolates, with lots of gluten and dairy free items. Try the proper hot chocolate and marshmallow or the famously good double chocolate brownie.

What makes us Honest? Chocolate is both luxurious and humble, once you understand its origins and the long journey it takes from the cacao tree to the finished product. We are only part of that journey when it comes to achieving the flavour profile of our chocolates. They originate from the type of cacao bean, the climate where they are grown and how they are processed. We rely on farmers in distant lands such as Ecuador to start the journey, and suppliers that share our values of sustainability, quality and excellence to dry, roast, and grind the cacao into couvertures that we can work with. We select our ingredients carefully and conscientiously, and choose to use single origin chocolate that comes from ethical sources. Our art as chocolatiers is to pair these amazing chocolate couvertures with exciting flavours and hand craft them into unique textures and experiences.

Our mission at the Sawmill Brewery + Smoko Room is to protect and preserve our shared resources – land, sea, soil and water.
Visit the Smoko Room inside the brewery for generous hospitality, locally sourced food, New Zealand wine, 15 beers on tap, as well as flagon fills and takeaway beer.
We are open from 12pm until late Thursday to Monday (7 days a week over summer) serving an all day menu from lunch through to dinner. Stop in for a pint or laze away the afternoon over a long lunch. Dinner bookings welcome from 5.30pm onwards.
In the Smoko Room we celebrate the farmers and growers we work with. Ingredients are ethically sourced, seasonal and availability is often weather dependent. Our food is created to share with friends and family. We are an independent, New Zealand owned brewery run by a small and creative team. For 19 years we have been brewing fresh quality beer using New Zealand grown hops and malted barley.
Independence means thinking for ourselves. We have an ethos of resourcefulness and creativity in how our brewery is run. We are proud to be New Zealand first and only B-Corp certified Brewery.
