Cortas is the market leader in producing flower essences. Rose water (mawared) is made by distilling the pink petals of a wild rose. Cortas rose water contains a high ratio of flowers to water, concentrating the flavour so it should be used sparingly. Use to add an exotic middle-eastern flavour to both savoury and sweet dishes such as stews, Turkish delight, crepe batter, pastry dough, sponge cake. We love to substitute vanilla extract for rose water in ice cream and dessert recipes. Delicious in beverages- try a splash of rose water with sparkling mineral water, lemonade or in a martini.
